Presbytery Youth Triennium
July 28-31, 2025
Louisville, KY
Every 3 years for the past 40 years, the Presbyterian Church USA, alongside ecumenical partners, has hosted the Presbyterian Youth Triennium. This multi-day gathering, historically somewhere in the midwest, has served as a place for young people to connect to God, to one another, and to our denomination, for a long time. In the years I've been able to attend, both as a participant, and as an adult advisor, I have seen this event as a transformational experience for all involved.
After the cancellation of the 2022 Presbyterian Youth Triennium as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are so excited to be planning a delegation for the 2025 Triennium this summer, in Louisville, Kentucky! And, as it has been 6 years since we've done a Triennium together, I can imagine there will be MANY questions about what Triennium is and how all of this works. The dates for this year's Triennium are July 28-31.
Here's a quick start guide for our Presbytery:
Of the many changes for Triennium this year from those in the past, one of the biggest is that Triennium is later in July than it has ever been before. We recognize this might pose a challenge for our high school students engaged in sports or other extracurriculars, where missing time right before the start of school is simply not an option. We're disappointed by this timing but understand if that is a factor in our youth being able to participate.
Additionally, I do want to note that Triennium has offered a "young adult" track for this Triennium specifically, as an avenue for the youth that missed out on the 2022 Triennium to engage in this year's event. They won't attend as part of our delegation, but I can pass along information about that application process if you have young adults aged 19-23 that might be interested!
Hopefully this answers many of your questions, and you're ready to talk to youth in your context and invite them to apply. And, if you have more questions, I'm planning on hosting an information session via Zoom on Sunday, February 2, from 4:30-5:30 pm for church leaders, youth, and youth parents to ask any questions you have!
The application packet is both attached to this email, and also available to fill out online. The church recommendation form can be found in the packet, or available here. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, or I look forward to seeing you at the Information Session on Zoom February 2!
